Job Summary

SDB Bank is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to lead the integration of holistic Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles across the organization. This role is central to aligning the bank’s products, services, and operations with the Sri Lanka Banks’ Association Sustainable Banking Initiative guidelines and international best practices. You will be responsible for driving the Environmental and Social Risk Management System (ESMS) by collaborating closely with Credit and Risk Management teams. By embedding sustainable finance into the bank’s core governance, you will help achieve long-term socio-economic progress and environmental responsibility. This position requires a passionate expert capable of navigating complex regulatory frameworks to foster a more sustainable future for the banking sector in Sri Lanka.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate holistic Sustainability and ESG considerations into banking products and services.

• Align governance and operations with SLBA Sustainable Banking Initiative and SSCI frameworks.

• Implement international sustainability best practices as advocated by key stakeholders.

• Coordinate the implementation of the Environmental and Social Risk Management System (ESMS).

• Collaborate with Credit and Risk Management teams to meet E&S risk objectives.

• Work across organizational boundaries to embed sustainable finance practices.

• Manage sustainability-related data analysis and reporting.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Sustainability, Eco-Business Management, Environmental Economics, or a related field.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the field of sustainable development.

• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and holistically sustainable development.

• Sound understanding of social and environmentally sustainable finance.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills for working in diverse organizational setups.

• Good knowledge of regulatory requirements and general banking policies.

• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, specifically Advanced Excel and Power BI (preferred).

• Prior experience in the Banking Industry is an added advantage.
